Slopes of S. Filipe
This route, ideal for a short walk and very accessible for beginners, stands out for its excellent views. There are few cities that, like Setúbal, have the privilege of being located along a blue river like the Sado and at the foot of an extraordinary mountain range like the Arrábida.
The trail starts by the river, in Parque Urbano de Albarquel (Albarquel Urban Park), and winds its way through the paths surrounding the São Filipe Fortress. The Parque Urbano de Albarquel (Albarquel Urban Park), in Setúbal's riverside area, was inaugurated in 2008 as a result of the rehabilitation of an old campsite. Currently, it is one of the most sought after places for all kinds of outdoor leisure and sporting activities linked to the sea.
Dating back to the 16th century, the S. Filipe Fortress is a must for anyone visiting Setúbal, having once been an important defensive and control bastion of the city. From its walls, can enjoyed one of the most extraordinary panoramic views of the city and the bay, so it is advisable to visit and stop on the terrace.
